The Smooth 5.65 Treadmill Reviewed – Does It Give the Best Value for Your Money?

This Smooth 5.65 treadmill review will try to take a quick look at this new model to join the Smooth Fitness lineup, which is replacing one of the company’s best selling models, the 5.45. But what sets the 5.65 apart from the older model? Is it simply the more updated look it now sports with the bold splash of red added to its side? Or is there more than just the new look?

Updated Features of the Smooth 5.65

This new 2010 model still comes with the main features that the 5.45 had. These are the 20″ by 55″ jogging surface, the 2.5 continuous-duty HP motor, and an LCD monitor.  It’s still able to accommodate a top speed of 10 mph, and an incline of up to 15%. If you think these features are enough to give bang for your buck, there’s more.

Priced at just under 1,000 dollars, the Smooth 5.65 will definitely standout among other treadmills in the same category. You won’t find many other affordable treadmills with a deluxe sound system, 14 preset programs, and a two-speed cooling fan. The new model shed off some weight at 191 lbs compared to the 210-lb Smooth 5.45, but the maximum user weight it can support is still 275 pounds.

A Few Concerns with the 5.65

As I write this Smooth 5.65 treadmill review (December 2009), the treadmill is only a few weeks old. Given that, few users have had a chance to try it out so it’s still difficult to establish that this new model will be as good as the previous one. It’s worth noting though, that the one feedback found on the Smooth website gives it 5-star rating and recommends it to others.

Also, the Smooth 5.65 is a treadmill that is most suitable for walkers and joggers only. The features it comes with won’t really be able to support any heavy running for a long time so serious runners who want a heavy and solid machine won’t find it with the 5.65. Smooth has other treadmills in its lineup that would make a better fit.

Great Warranty for the Price

Just like its predecessor, the Smooth 5.65 belongs to the sub-1,000 dollars category but for what the user will be getting, this treadmill is bound to be another  one of Smooth’s best selling models. The Smooth 5.65 also continues to be backed by Smooth’s “Best in Industry” warranty that includes lifetime warranty on  the frame and motor, 3 years on all parts and electronics, and 1 year warranty on in-home service.

Final Notes

In introducing another model to replace one of its best treadmills, Smooth Fitness is out to prove that it  still has a few tricks up its sleeves when it comes to giving the best value for money. And indeed, for a treadmill that goes for just under 1,000 dollars,  feature-packed Smooth 5.65 seems to be delivering. The bottom line of this Smooth 5.65 treadmill review is that those simply looking for a basic treadmill of  good quality at a lower price will get more than what they bargained for with the Smooth 5.65.
