The Art Of Healing With Energy – 3 Degrees Of Reiki Training

Reiki is a fast growing form of healing with energy and has crossed over from the East to the West in terms of medical treatment, healing, and stress reduction.

Nowadays, you can often find Reiki being performed at a healing center, clinic, homeopath, or even at your university campus. For those of you who want to delve into the world of self-healing and Reiki, you may be wondering where can you start your learning journey.

The teachings of Reiki outside of Japan are normally divided into 3 different levels, also known as degrees.

While there is much variation and adaptation in terms of learning and teaching Reiki, these are the basics of each level.

First Degree

The first degree of the Reiki course covers the most basic theories and procedures. Within this degree, you will be given four “attunements” from the teacher. As a student, you will learn the different hand placement positions on the recipient’s body that are considered to be the most beneficial to the healing process in a whole body treatment.

Once you complete the first degree of learning, you will be able to treat yourself and others using Reiki. Normally, all of this will take 4 sessions over a span of 2 to 4 consecutive days.

Second Degree

In the second degree Reiki course, you will learn to use the three symbols. These three symbols will enhance the strength and distance of your influence. At this point another attunement will be given to you that will expand the magnitude of Reiki to flow through you. This attunement will also empower the use of the three symbols.

Once you have completed this second level, you will be able to work without being physically present with your recipient.

Third Degree or Master Training

In the third degree Reiki Course, also known as “master training”, you will become a Reiki Master. Within this level, one or more attunements will be carried out and you will learn another symbol, called Dai Ko Myo.

Upon completion of the master training level, you will be able to attune other people to Reiki and teach them the three degrees that you have been through. The length of time it takes to complete the master training can range from a day to a year or even more. It depends on the school, philosophy, and the mater giving the training.

Variations

As mentioned before, there are many variations to Reiki and not everything mentioned above will be the final say. As of this moment, there is no official accreditation body for Reiki. While learning the art of healing with energy can be taught over the internet, most Traditionalists claim that an attunement must be done in person for any effect to take place at all.  So before you choose any school or master to teach you Reiki, please do all your research and make sure their philosophy is aligned with your goals.
