These are some of the standard rowing machine kinds for you to choose :

Piston resistance.  This variety has the following features :

Do you really like going to the local gymnasium everyday?  Now seriously, be truthful about this one.  Personally I dislike going to the gymnasium.  It’s plain and simply a trouble for me.  It’s just one thing more that I should try and squeeze into my day.  On the other hand, I am not against buying gymnasium kit.  I always like to just own the stuff.  This way I will have instant access to it whenever I please.  Trust me ; the convenience makes a whole lot of difference.  Not merely will owning gym apparatus make it easier, but it may encourage you to exercise more frequently.  I know that it has actually had this effect on me.

Let me give you my private diatribe about owning gym gear.  These are the reasons I hate driving to our local YMCA.  First off, I must drive there.  This is so time-consuming.  You essentially have to find some workout cloths, put them on, and then drive all the way to the gym.  Oh, and do not forget that you’re going to have to drive all of the way back home too.  This is a waste of your day.  How much faster could you work out if you had your own gym equipment in your house?  Then there’s the gas issue.  I do not want to pay for gas that’s’s needed for driving to the gym five days each week.  This is a waste of money.  Also, you have to share the gymnasium gear with everyone.  What if somebody is using the machine you would like to use?  That stinks!  Plus their sweat is going to be all over it when you plop down on it.  Yuck!  These are valid reasons for not desiring to go to the gym.  These reasons are why I decided to buy my own gymnasium apparatus.  It’s not as dear as some people may think.  What is it that you really use at the gym?  Are you one of those folks who just run on the treadmill?  Then get a treadmill!  I love to do curls, bench press, jump rope, and box.  I’m able to achieve all of this at home.  In cost me about 400 bucks to get all the gymnasium hardware I need.  How much are you paying each single month?  I fundamentally paid four hundred bucks for an entire life membership.  Beat that!

If you are an internet surfer, then it’s time to see all of the gym equipment they’ve got for sale online now days.  Let me tell you, the chances are endless.  Whatever you want in your house is creditable when it comes to latest gymnasium equipment.  Get started now!

How to Choose a Rowing Machine

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Rowing machines supply an outstanding all round work out which is easy on the joints but still gives a strenuous, aerobic exercise that uses muscles in both the upper and lower body. They are high-priced however so it is a good idea to find out about the different types before you pay money for one to make sure the machine you finish up with is the most suitable for your needs. The least expensive rowing machine you will almost certainly find is roughly $500 and the most expensive something like $2500 so you certainly want to be aware of which type to purchase and which features you need.

Things to Think About When Purchasing a Fitness Rowing Machine

Rowing machines do take up rather a lot of room so if you do not have the room to leave one in place continually you could get a rowing machine that can be collapsed and put away. You will additionally want quite a large, well ventilated space to use your rowing machine in, preferably with room for a television as rowing can be quite uninteresting when done for long periods. A number of machines do make quite a lot of noise so if is a concern you may want to look for a magnetic rowing machine as these are much quieter. If you are going to use the machine daily we would recommend a magnetic rowing machine that is designed for severe use. For infrequent use a hydraulic machine would be fitting as these also tend to be smaller and more convenient to store.

A number of of the less expensive rowing machine don’t have LCD monitors for output of readings like distance rowed, time spent or stroke rate. Even though not exactly essential these are really nice ways to monitor your progress and to stop you being bored during training. They on occasion come as optional extras but we would suggest buying them as they will make your training much more helpful and enjoyable.

Variable Resistance

The majority of the rowing machines on the market have an adjustable resistance so check the range as several are quite restricted. A machine with a wide variety is much more functional as you can effortlessly vary the intensity of the exercise by increasing the resistance.

More Considerations Before You Purchase

Make certain that the foot rests and the seat are fully adaptable and that you fall within the weight restrictions of the machine.

Try Out Before You Buy

Machines vary a lot in their action and in how easy they are to use. If at all possible try to visit a gym where you can try out some different models before you buy. If you’re purchasing online make sure that the supplier has a return policy so that if you find the rowing machine is not right for you it can be swapped for a different one.

The Some Different Types of Fitness Rowing Machines

Hydraulic Resistance Rowing Machines

These are frequently the most inexpensive machines and also have a tendency to be smaller which makes storing them a great deal easier. They use cylinders filled with oil to change the resistance. The motion can be a little jerky and they do have a tendency to leak after a lot of use. We wouldn’t propose a hydraulic rowing machine for heavy, every day use.

Air Resistance Rowing Machines

In these types of machines air is directed over a flywheel to generate the resistance. While you can come across air rowing machines from under $200 we suggest spending a little more to obtain a superior class machine at around $400. Resistance usually covers a broad range which really replicates the feeling of rowing in water and resistance increases as you row faster. On the other hand they do have the drawback of being very noisy especially at high speeds.

Water Resistance Rowing Machines

In these types of rowing machines, the resistance comes from water in a cylinder. They are among the pricier machines with prices starting at approximately $1000. They offer a very even movement which is very like the sensation of rowing in water and there is even the water moving past you as you row! They do involve some looking after however as you will have to to restore the water occasionally.

Magnetic Rowing Machine

Adjustable magnets are used for resistance in these types of rowing machines. They are comparatively small machines which makes storage much easier than some others and they are very quiet. They don’t need any upkeep and give a very even action.

In Conclusion

Purchasing a good fitness rowing machine is a reasonably large investment so you must make certain before you purchase that you will be using it often. Preferably you will have used rowing machines at the gym so that you are familiar with this type of exercise. A rowing machine is an example of a fitness exercise machine that is a good buy as it will give you an exceptionally good all round aerobic exercise which works all of upper and lower body muscles at the same time.
