A Comparison Of Several Top Ab Machines

Friday, December 30th, 2011

There are so many ab machines for sale today, it can be confusing to figure out which ones are any good and do what they claim. All of these machines appeal to our desire to have great abs from doing short and easy workouts. The fact is, different ab machines are better for different fitness goals, and below we’ll be discussing a few different types and what they can do for you. Are you looking for a good home workout that won’t take up a ton of time to complete? Be sure to check out the Beachbody 10 Minute Trainer workouts. It is very good.

One of the newest trends in ab workouts is the Flex Belt, which isn’t really a workout at all, as this is a tool that does all the work for you. You’ll like this if you don’t have much time, or the inclination to do long workouts, as all you have to do is put this belt on. The Flex Belt has been approved by the FDA as a way to tone your abdominal muscles, so there is some evidence that this really works, and you only have to use it for 30 minutes per day. This is not the kind of belt long worn by weightlifters, but a high tech device that stimulates your muscles electronically. While the Flex Belt will tone your abs, if you need to lose weight it won’t magically take pounds off you, so it doesn’t replace the need for diet and exercise if you need to burn calories. Stability balls are obviously not ab machines, but they are a good source for getting your complete core much stronger. These types of balls can be called exercise balls, Swiss balls, and physio balls. However, each of these balls are inflatable and you can do various exercises with them. They come in a variety of sizes. When you get them, you are generally advised how to pick out the ones that are proper for your size and weight. Aside for exercising on top of the balls, it can be used as an alternate when doing weight lifting exercises.

The Torso Track is an ab machine with a good reputation, and the American Council on Exercise even endorses it. This ab machine also has the endorsement of a popular actress, Suzanne Somers. The design of this machine is simple but effective, and it utilizes a sliding back and forth motion that works your abs. One advantage of this unit is that your abs get a great workout in a very short time, so your exercise sessions don’t have to be long. After you’re comfortable with the basic exercise, you can also do more complicated ones. There are several models of Torso Tracks available, and most sell for between one and two hundred dollars. While ab machines can be helpful for improving your fitness and giving you the kind of toned abs everyone wants, it’s important to realize that you have to work out consistently to see results. Also, you have to eat right if you want to lose weight. More than exercise will have to get this done. Ab machines like the ones we have examined can become a good part of your overall exercise program. Lastly, don’t forget to read our Ten Minute Trainer review.

Selecting The Best Ab Crunch Machine

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

The pros and disadvantages of Ab Machines. There are a multitude of advertisements and commercials on the Internet and Television about Ab Exercise Machines that claim to magically transform your abs into a rock hard six pack tummy overnight.

This review is aimed to supply you with information of which of these Abdominal Exercise Machines actually work and also the advantages and disadvantages of using different Ab Machines for you to make an informed decision prior to investing in this kind of Exercise Equipment.

It’s plain to see that Abdominal Exercise Machines have become a a very popular choice when it comes to strengthening and toning Ab muscles and also in overall weight loss. Every day some new Ab Crunch Machine or device is being invented and advertised, it seems.

One thing is a fact. After buying a good machine, you have put in the time and hard work and use it, not let it sit there being a dust collector after a few times of use.

We all know there’s no such thing as an amazing transformation seen practically overnight. To strengthen and build abdominal muscles requires burning fat while performing your exercise program and this is done through proper diet and burning calories to lose fat and build muscle, so you would need to change if your on a hamburger and fries diet at the moment, haha.

To burn fat you will require an aerobics or cardiovascular workout. A good thing about many Exercise Programs is they focus on the cardiovascular factor incorporated with the machine, but if you buy equipment that does not focus on any cardio routine you need to incorporate your workout with another form of cardio workout like running, walking or cycling.

If you dislike the conventional sit ups and crunches methods performed on the floor or with planks or benches, an Ab Crunch Machine can be a more safer, effective and more comfortable way to exercise your abdominals.

This exercise equipment focuses on core stabilization by isolating and targeting directly on the abdominal region which can actually remove most involvements of the hip flexor causing no strain being placed on the lower back and neck. Your body is completely supported and anatomically aligned allowing your muscles to be exercised in the most effective and efficient method to target obliques, upper, centre and lower abs.

Most Ab Crunch Machines are easily assembled and come optional with  Instructional DVD’s and programs supplying you with all the information required on how to best use the machine along with advice on diet and supplements.

Many first time users of Ab Machines state they feel they are not  getting the right amount of burn in their abdominal muscles. Each and every individual is different relating to body shape, weight and fat concentration. If you find this happening to you, try experimenting with the exercises to find the best and correct posture applicable to contract your abdominal muscles.

This is where the Instructional DVDs can help you out as most Abdominal Machines differ in design and functionality. You may need to try several times before you get the technique that will work for you.

And as always, before beginning any kind of exercise program. Consult with your GP.

Is an ab machine really worth it?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I’m certain there’s  numerous potential customers watching ab machine commercials who are curious as to whether the machines featured on television actually give results. Part of this, I am sure, stems from the fact that there are late night infomercial pitch men pushing all sorts of hard to believe gadgets.

Some of their tactics are so outrageous, the really turn me off. Here’s a tip, not every machine is effective;  some are worthless and will not provide any benefit for your abdominal muscles. While you can find good equipment in some cases, you have to wade through the hype to really find the machine that will work well for you.

For those who don’t know much about ab machines, here’s a good resource to help you understand some of the ab equiment options.

Any piece of equipment must target the ab muscles specifically to be of maximum benefit.  A way equipment can be of assistance is to provide you the ability to intensely focus on your various abdominal muscles much more than say crunches or sit ups. Crunches are great for your rectus abdominals, those muscles that layer over your midsection. Yet, you must still concentrate on the obliques, lower abdominal muscles, and transverse abdominal muscles, if you want a complete ab workout.

These muscles all require their own unique exercises with appropriate angles To make sure you get the best ab workout, you need to hit all of these muscles. You don’t have to worry about doing an exercise for each muscle every  workout, rotate the exercises and you will ensure that you do hit each one.

This is where an ab machines can come in handy and provide that variety you need. As a bonus, their use can also improve your movement. For example, a way in which they improve the exercise is to provide additional resistance. Some pieces of equipment do this through added weight, some do this by forcing you to get in a position that places more applied body weight to the movement.

I’ve found that people are more likely to work on their abs, if they’ve got the equipment handy. Variety provides mental advantages, as well as physical advantages. Generally, when people follow the same routine day in and out, focusing on one or two exercises, this gets old fast. They’ve got a tendency to shorten their workouts and not pay much attention to the form. However, a variety of exercises reenergizes people. This inevitably means that they have better workouts and better results..

After all of this, I came to realize that the use of an ab machine can actually help to build those ab muscles. But, you do have to put the time in if you want to see results.

Abdominal Exercise Machines - Do They Work As Promised?

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

There have been hundreds of infomercials for ab exercise machines. Will they work for you as promised?

If you’re considering buying one, you want to read this first…

Infomercials advertising abdominal machines are made to make you believe that a gadget can give you lean, hard abs.

The truth is that a machine can help - if you already have low body fat. For men, body fat levels need to be around 10% for ab muscles to be visible. For women, the magic number is around 14 – 18%.

If you have fat around your abs, you need to lose fat with a solid exercise and nutrition program before you buy any equipment.

Ab Exercise Machines Pros and Cons

Some of the benefits of ab machines are…

1. They add some variety. Using an ab machine can challenge your muscles a little differently than what they’re used to.

2. They can make your routine interesting. Doing the same exercises over and over can become boring after awhile. Using a machine can keep workouts fun and interesting.

3. Ab exercise machines isolate your abdominal muscles. They’re normally made to work just your abs. If you have a low body fat percentage and you want to define your abs, isolation is good for that.

The thing you should know about ab gadgets like belts and machines is that they can’t melt fat off your stomach. You can harden your abs by using machines, but you won’t lose fat from your abs by using them.

Additionally, overusing ab machines can create a muscular imbalance, and that’s potentially dangerous! The muscles in your abs and lower back work together whenever you move or pick things up.

Abdominal machines focus exclusively on your ab muscles. If your abs become way stronger than your lower back muscles, this imbalance can slowly but surely lead you down the path to injury.

Hopefully now you know whether or not you should buy one of those ab exercise machines!
