How To Select Sunglasses

There is nothing to expect from cheap sunglasses other than poor quality. Low standards are not a problem with reputed brand names because their best sunglasses represent a continuation of tradition and the preservation of good reputation. What people don’t know is that cheap eyewear could cause a lot of damage to the eyes. The pupil dilates because of the dark lenses, if there are no anti-UV protective features, then the ultraviolets and the infrareds become very dangerous for the eye. Sight impairment, crystalline dysfunctions and cataract could be among the severest consequences of the exposure to radiations.

Another reason why you should always try to buy the best sunglasses possible is image distortion. The best sunglasses will not pose problems in terms of dioptric values although a doctor’s opinion may be needed. A further criterion to appreciate the quality of the best sunglasses is by comfort and face match. If you try more pairs on, you’ll see that there is a big difference between matching and not-matching glasses, as they have to fit well on the face. Then, besides UV protection, the best sunglasses also reduce the glare by the anti-polarizing coating that covers the lenses.

Can we select the best sunglasses by color too? Well, there are different opinions here. The capacity to absorb the colors of the visible spectrum and the reduction of the light intensity vary depending on the color. There are categories of wearers who cannot use very dark lenses because they would impair vision: gray is usually preferred by drivers, pilots and many other users. Green lenses have the highest efficiency in absorbing IR and UV radiation but they make certain colors hard to distinguish. Greeninterferes with the perception of blue, red, orange and violet. Nevertheless, when you are on vacation in some exotic location, green lenses make the best sunglasses, not to mention the relaxing effect of the color.

Brown lenses are suitable in warm and cold environments as well, and they have a good capacity to absorb radiations. Yellow lenses on the other hand are not useful against intense brightness but are great for foggy weather or driving at sunset. The idea is that the best sunglasses are those that provide protection and comfort at the same time. Wraparounds have superior features too because they prevent the UV rays to affect vision on the sides of the eyes. And keep in mind that the price should not reflect the special design of the frames or their glamorous look but the properties of the lenses. Eye protection is the most important!
