Acid reflux happens when the lower esophageal sphincter doesn’t correctly close allowing acid from the stomach to reflux back up the esophagus which could cause burning of the esophageal lining. There are several medicines that you will find over the counter that can assist in relieving the pain of acid reflux, these include :
Drugs that control acid production and can heal the esophageal lining are called proton pump inhibitors, such as lansoprazole ( Prevacid ) and omeprazole ( Prilosec ).
Ensure you read and follow the directions on all medications. If these over-the-counter treatments don’t work or you’re feeling you are using them too frequently, check with your GP.
Foods That Cause Acid Reflux in Some folks
Exotic food : Exotic food is a very common cause of heartburn in many folks. Peppers, chillies or other spices if taken in huge quantities in your diet, may lead to heartburn. It isn’t like you shouldn’t eat foods that you like, as an example if you like Mexican food, you can try and have milder versions of it.
Other Foods: Alcohol,Coffee,Orange Juice,Soft drinks,Black pepper,Chocolate,Peppermint,Fatty foods,Fried foods,Ketchup,Mustard,Tomato Sauce,Vinegar.
